MISSION
STATEMENT
WHAT
IS IT "TEEN-FRIENDLY GREATER NEW ORLEANS"?
A massive campaign to 1) raise awareness about
the teen crisis looming over the Greater New Orleans
community and 2) leverage 1:1 dollar matches for
the $120,000 leadership award received from the
Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. This campaign
will:
-
Create a support umbrella
for neighborhood youth programs identified
by YOUTHanasia Foundation. These programs
will be expanded to accommodate more youth
in an effort to decrease the repeat offender
rate at local juvenile detention centers and
decrease the number of adolescents idle during
out of school time hours.
-
Construct (2) state of
the art teen centers. One to be located in
Jefferson Parish, and one to be located in
Orleans Parish.
-
Launch www.teenfriendlygno.com
. A website dedicated to individual donors.
Donors who donate $40 or more, will receive
a free t-shirt that reads (on the front):
Rebuilding Greater New Orleans? Got Teens?.
The back of each shirt reads: Visit www.teenfriendlygno.com
TODAY!
-
Catapult the cause of
a “teen-friendly Greater New Orleans”
into national and international spotlight
via the mass production of 10,000 posters
to be sent to heads of major companies, elected
officials, heads of state, college presidents,
national organizations, national sports agencies,
major television networks, and celebrity foundations.
-
Launch Final Fridayz:
The Ultimate Teen Experience. Final Fridayz
is a series that consists of a citywide teen
event happening every last Friday in the month.
Events such as a Citywide Teen Talent Show,
and a Celebrity Look-a-Like Bash have been
planned to give teenagers something to look
forward to, and something to do in a city
that caters to adults!
